Musgrave
Group division – MSVC {Musgrave SuperValu Centra Ltd} deploy
defibtech AEDs at their wholesale distribution centres in the
Republic of Ireland. Musgrave Group is Ireland's largest food and
grocery distributor. The company operates islandwide distribution
and support for independent supermarket owners and franchises the
stores which hold 24 per cent of the grocery market in the
Republic and 10 per cent of the market in Northern Ireland; a 20
per cent market share of the island overall.
Since it was founded by the Musgrave
brothers, Thomas and Stuart in 1876, Musgrave Group has become
Ireland's largest grocery distributor. Today, the Group has
operations in the Republic of Ireland, Northern Ireland, Britain
and Spain. More than a century and a quarter since it commenced in
Cork, a family-owned business has developed from small beginnings
into a major Irish and international firm with annual sales of
over €4.4 billion.

Time to defibrillation is the most critical factor in survival of
sudden cardiac arrest (SCA). If an AED is "on-site" within two minutes
there is an 80% chance that the victim will survive. This is one of
the reasons that survival rates improve in areas with active AED
programmes. Remember, every minute that passes before defibrillation
the survival rate reduces by 7-10 percent.
Unfortunately, most of the time, the necessary life-saving equipment
does not arrive in time. As a result, typical survival rates are only
1%.
Sudden Cardiac Arrest is caused by chaotic electrical activity in the
heart and can only be treated with an electric shock called
defibrillation. Recent advances in modern technology, along with
legislative support from federal and state governments, have made a
solution available to the public. Automated External Defibrillators
(AEDs) are this life-saving solution.
The bottom line is that with a modest investment, now you too can save
a life.
